Safari Stop 2 - Coconuts & Monkeys

On our second port of call, our driver Toto used a coconut tree as a method of braking, I have seen people use this method of braking before but usually it has been accidental, in the case of Chitty Bang it was completely with purpose.

When we piled out of the car we were greeted with fresh coconut recently hacked open with a machete to drink and a monkey demonstration. The guides explained how the macaques are domesticated and go to monkey school on the mainland so they can be used to farm coconuts. They climb to the top of the trees and twist the fruit off the stems, dropping them to be collected by their humans at the base.
