Safari Stop 2 - Coconuts & Monkeys
On our second port of call, our driver Toto used a coconut tree as a method of braking, I have seen people use this method of braking before but usually it has been accidental, in the case of Chitty Bang it was completely with purpose.
When we piled out of the car we were greeted with fresh coconut recently hacked open with a machete to drink and a monkey demonstration. The guides explained how the macaques are domesticated and go to monkey school on the mainland so they can be used to farm coconuts. They climb to the top of the trees and twist the fruit off the stems, dropping them to be collected by their humans at the base.

Safari Stop 1 - Grandfather & Grandmother Rocks
So we, Bear and me, along with 6 others are sitting on the death trap also known as Chitty Bang tearing our way through the streets of Koh Samui, when with little to no warning we swerve sharply and somehow end up neatly parked next to five other 4WD's with Genuine branding. Our driver and guide snaps at us to get out, this is our first stop, the Grandfather and Grandmother rocks.
Apparently the legend that accompanies these suggestively shaped rock formations is that an old couple were out boating, met with some foul weather and ended up shipwrecked on the beach. Inexplicably, only their genitals remained, hence the stones. Personally, I think it's all just a big excuse to have a giggle at the rocks that look like people's sexy parts, and let's face it, I'm definitely not too mature for that.

Genuine Safari Tour
Today has been an almost perfect day.
In fact, I think today may go down as being the best day of the whole trip, all of the other days are going to have to really put on their game faces if they want to beat today. It really was something special.
We had been taking it really easy for the last day and a half. After I had established that I had managed to dodge the gastrointestinal bullet, there was an extensive amount of lazing in pools, strolling, eating, shopping and not a whole lot else, but that was just fine by us.
Today however, today was different.
It started out the same as yesterday with a couple of helpings of a very scrumptious breakfast buffet, we then sat and waited for our tour transport to arrive.
Suddenly, a great metal monstrosity masquerading itself as a 4WD bounces its way up the cobblestones, careens around the fountain, and reverses screeching and scraping onto the stone steps at our feet. This was our ride. Its name was Chitty Bang and this was going to be one hell of a tour.
